I have explored and journeyed along the river at various points of its path through south east Asia. On my first trip to the region as a young backpacker in the late 1990s I took a slow...

We are living in Phnom Penh city of Cambodia. Everyday is a working day except Sunday and traffic is always busy and noisy. Comparing to a life at countryside, they live peacefully and happy in the village. They get up early in the morning bringing their oxens and cows to eat grass at the fields, some cutting vegetable to sell at the market and sell in the village, some works in their ricefield and some to find the foods like crabs, frogs, rats, fishes. Their lives are peaceful. Your support is a huge encouragement for me as a Khmer to continue sharing the tourist attraction places in Cambodia to all Khmer and the World and bring more tourists to Cambodia. Phnom Penh Cambodia Mekong Delta Ho Chi Minh Vietnam Travel Full Documentary Subscribe to Us Today! The Mekong River is one of Asia's great waterways -a powerful, mesmerising and life-giving force that careers from the icy mountains of Tibet to the humid rice fields of southern Vietnam. Along its journey the river blesses Tibet, China, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam with its bounty of food and transportation opportunities and is the lifeblood of thousands of people who live along its banks and survive from its fish and the irrigation opportunities it presents to otherwise remote rural areas. I have explored and journeyed along the river at various points of its path through south east Asia. On my first trip to the region as a young backpacker in the late 1990s I took a slow boat from Huay Xai (the border town in the north of Thailand and Laos) to Luang Prabang, and from this time onward I have been fascinated by exploring the Mekong and its tributaries. I have been fortunate to travel down and stay alongside the river in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. However, the so-called 'Mekong Delta' region of Vietnam had eluded me on my travels until recently, and what a treat I had been missing! The Mekong Delta refers to a large area of Vietnam from its border with Cambodia to the coastal shores of the south of the country where the Mekong finally ends its enormous journey. The area is often referred to locally as the 'Rice Bowl', such is the fertility and irrigation possibilities that water's flow provides. Most visitors to Vietnam will remark about the frenetic nature with which the Vietnamese people seem to go about pretty much everything they do. Crossing overland into Vietnam from Laos or Cambodia, you will notice a marked difference in the levels of human activity. I recall travelling into northern Vietnam from Laos once; on the Laos side of the border were remote villages scattered every twenty kilometres or so, with dry paddy fields and the occasional glimpse of tribal ethnic minority villagers sleeping in the mid-day heat. Yet, just across the border it is a completely different story, with ingenious irrigation and farming systems in place and a hive of activity with people planting, chopping, building, transporting. I recall that on the Vietnamese side of the border they get an extra rice harvest every year. The reasons for these differences are probably worthy of a separate article altogether so we won't go into them here. Nevertheless, the Mekong Delta mirrors these earlier observations -- never before I had I seen such intense and incredible use of the river's unquestionable gifts.

Phnom Penh is the capital of Cambodia. The city has been developing very quickly, due to peace, stability, and rising economic growth . Cambodia is a proud member of ASEAN. Please click on (SHOW MORE) to learn more about the Kingdom of Wonder. Information On Some Phnom Penh Attractions Wat Phnom (Wat Phnom Daun Penh) Wat Phnom, the namesake and symbol of the capital city of Phnom Penh, sets prominently atop an artificial 27 meter hill (or 'Phnom') in the northeastern section of the city. Legend has it that Daun Penh, a wealthy widow, retrieved a large koki tree trunk from the river. She had hoped to use it for a house, but inside a hollow of the trunk, she found four statues of the Buddha. She then ordered for a section of her property to be elevated for a small shrine to be erected to revere the statues. This became a sacred site and people started to settle around the hill; eventually, this became the city it now is. It is here that the city gets its name: ‘Phnom’ means hill in Khmer and ‘Penh’ is of course the name of the lady. Royal Palace The Royal Palace of Cambodia is a complex of buildings, even though it is generally understood to be the royal abode of the King of Cambodia. The compound was the citadel of King Ponhea Yat (1393-1463) and rebuilt to its present state in 1886, when King Norodom (1834-1904) relocated the royal capital from Oudong to Phnom Penh. The buildings with beautiful towering spires are a great example of classic Khmer architecture found in Cambodia today. Along with numerous other interesting buildings, within the 183,135 square meters (421m x 435m) compound is The Khemarin Palace, also known as Prasat Khemarin or the "Palace of the Khmer King." This is officially the residence of His Majesty, King Norodom Sihamoni. Silver Pagoda The Silver Pagoda, also known as the Preah Vihear Preah Keo Morokat (the Emerald Pagoda) to Cambodians, lies within the grounds of the Royal Palace, which is situated near the banks of the Mighty Mekong. Originally a wooden structure, the palace was initially constructed in 1892 during the reign of King Norodom, but rebuilt to its present grandeur by King Norodom Sihanouk in 1962. The king spared no effort to make this a true embodiment of brilliant Khmer art. More than 5300 pcs of 1.125 kilo silver tiles are used to cover the floor of the Silver Pagoda, and the silver pieces collectively weigh over six tons. National Museum The National Museum of Cambodia in Phnom Penh is the country’s leading historical and archaeological museum. It was officially inaugurated by King Sisowat in 1920. Independence Monument (Vimean Ekareach) Independence Monument (Vimean Ekareach) built in 1958 as a memorial to Cambodia's war dead and to celebrate independence from foreign rule, the monument stands majestically on the intersection of Norodom Boulevard and Sihanouk Boulevard in the centre of the city. It is designed by the influential Cambodian modern architect Vann Molyvann in the form of a lotus-shaped stupa in the same style seen at the great Khmer temple at Angkor Wat and other Khmer historical sites. Phsar Thmey (Central Market) Phsar Thmey, also known as Central Market, is a unique colonial style building constructed in 1937. The location where the Central Market now sits was once a swamp area and occupied by a lake known as Beng Decho. Today, this beautiful market has become a prominent landmark in Phnom Penh. In the Khmer language, Phsar Thmey literally means ‘New Market’. More reading at: http://www.tourismcambodia.org/provincial_guide/index.php?view=attraction&prv=15&att=9#comp

BONUS FOOTAGE from Cambodia Adventure VLOG series. This would have been day 4, VLOG156. Just to give you a little backstory, I got VIOLENTLY SICK the day prior and I'm feeling about 80% recovered when I discovered I had just eaten dog meat! This footage is mostly unedited, unlike my usual videos. I just wanted to show a little more about what life is like in the Khmer village I was staying at. It really is such an amazing experience that I urge everyone to try if you're into adventures like this. There are a lot of "tours" available and if it's something you are serious about doing, I can also recommend some guides that will help you visit the places I did during my stay in Cambodia. Cambodia Nightlife 2016 - VLOG 96 Phnom Penh (bars, clubs, girls) A VLOG from Sept 2016 of an evening drinking in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The parts of this video are: 0:00 Intro 0:17 Apple Hostess Bar, Street 172 1:07 Food at the Sundance Inn, Street 172 2:08 $1 tuk tuk to Street 104 3:06 Street 103, the Soi Cowboy of Cambodia 6:32 Angry Birds Bar, Street 130 7:22 Street 136, hostess bar street 7:54 The Corner 136 Bar, inc. chatting with a nice hostess girl 13:54 $1 motorbike taxi to Street 51 14:04 Sorya Beer Garden, with some scary looking freelancers 15:15 Pontoon Nightclub 18:34 $1 motorbike taxi to Street 136 18:54 Street 136 19:18 Heading home for the night 20:29 Map of locations in this video Street 172 This is Phnom Penh's cheap charlie area. It is home to many inexpensive bars, restaurants, guesthouses and also has a few hostess bars thrown in for good measure. It is a good place to find $0.50 draught beers and many expat teachers congregate here in groups for the inexpensive offerings. The food is generally good here and many restaurants do take away service for the local expats. The hostess bars were quiet on street 172 when I visited so I never ventured in as I generally don't like being a solo customer in a bar. The Apple bar girls were probably the best lookers from what I saw. Sundance Inn and Saloon. This place is pretty solid choice with rooms starting at around $20. It's guest friendly, they have a small swimming pool at the back and a lively bar area that is good to meet fellow travellers if that is your thing. The first $1 beer of the trip was at the Sundance Inn and the $1 tacos there tasted fine (but could have done with some salsa). $1 tuk tuk ride. I went everywhere via tuk tuk or moto taxi and never paid more than $1 for a trip. September is the low season and there are far more tuk tuk drivers than customers so if one won't go for $1 then the next probably will. Phnom Penh is not a place to wander around alone late at night, even around the tourist areas. I don't walk anywhere round these streets at night and always take motorbike taxis or tuk tuks. Street 104 I went too early on this night and didn't realise that the bars really get going from 9pm onwards. It was interesting to see they are building a Hooters franchise restaurant right on Street 104. The tuk tuk guys said they were building a hotel upstairs too. $0.75 beers at the Cheers bar all night long is a very good deal on Street 104. If there was a bit more atmosphere I would have hung around a bit longer but decided to move on... Angry Birds Bar, Street 130 This bar was well run and had a few nice hostess ladies inside. Worth a look if you are nearby. Also, I spotted a tuk tuk on Street 172 that gives free rides direct to the Angry Birds bar, good if you are heading over that way anyway. The Corner 136 bar This hostess bar is probably my favourite in all of Phnom Penh as they have sexy dancing downstairs, a chill out area at the front and an upstairs seating area overlooking the street below. They also have a lot of hostess ladies on their books. My one that I talked to was a very pleasant girl. She hangs around the bar every night drinking with guys so it's inevitable she'll go with a customer soon enough. It wasn't to be for me even though she was lovely, and petite at only 40 kg (I don't usually don't care for girls with a slim build like her). Some guy will get lucky and end up taking her back to the hotel... Sorya Beer Garden This place is popular with local expats and has cheap beer, pool tables and always a few freelancers milling around. I must have picked a bad night to visit as the selection of freelancers wasn't the best putting it mildly. Pontoon This nightclub is now has cover charges some nights due to it's increasing popularity. I think the club is ok, but not great. There was much more security on my visit and they were hassling me a bit for taking a couple of photos which was surprising. Last drink on Street 136 I went for a last drink in a random bar here, turns out that there were 2 Korean guys buying drinks for the whole bar and the night descended into a blurry haze...
